The summer heat is literally right around the corner. We feel it in the air and soon, we’ll be feeling it in our hair, too. That’s why we’ve rounded up some easy hairstyles to give you some relief for the season and spoke to celebrity hairstylist Laura Polko, for the ultimate tips.
On summer hairstyles…
“For the summer, I love a loose paid. I think it’s always good if a few pieces fall out in the front of your face. Also, I really like a nice blow out because then you’re not stuck with super straight hair and then you get upset when it gets, you know, underneath your neck when and you get sweaty (laughs).”
On hair trends…
“I think that for cut, people are letting their hair grow out a bit more. I think it’s the maintenance is becoming lazier and lazier. Like I think it’s progressively changed every year. Three years ago, it was like get your hair coloured once a month, then it was to get your hair coloured once every other month and now it’s every three months, and then it’s like how do you colour your hair? I find everyone’s kind of like trying to keep maintenance as low as possible.”
On how to achieve the wet-hair-look…
“It takes a lot of products. First, you’re going to need a dry oil that really helps your hair, and then you’ll want to set it with gel. In order to completely set it, you need to use a dryer on low heat because if not, you’ll get the crust around the hair. You really have to be really patient with it. It’s definitely a look that takes a minute to achieve. Then, you finish it off with hairspray or more gel. You can also give it a more textured look and add some pins in them.”
On hair maintenance…
“It’s probably better not to wash it every single day otherwise your hair will dry out. Also, the water in Dubai is not awesome [it includes plenty of magnesium] and the best thing you can do is use shampoo, it’s just prolonging the process.”
