To celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year and the start of the Year of the Rat, Gucci have launched a capsule collection which pays homage to the world’s most famous rodent: Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse.
Titled the Year of the Mouse, Gucci’s new Lunar New Year collection from Creative Director Alessandro Michele features the house’s classic ready-to-wear and accessories, all emblazoned with Disney’s iconic character.
The playful capsule sits centre stage in a new campaign by photographer and director Harmony Korine, which stars Gucci ambassador and actress Ni Ni, actor Earl Cave and designer, stylist and poet Zoë Bleu in the dreamy Disneyland Resort, California.
The whimsical backdrop of castles, tea cups and fantasy lands, provides the perfect setting for Michele ’s brightly-coloured cardigans, Micky Mouse adorned jewellery and novelty leather bags ready for the next adventure.
With a nod back to the ’80s, the new Mini GG Supreme canvas draws inspiration from Gucci’s archive designs with a vintage Mickey Mouse print pattern on a beige and ebony fabric.
Other covetable accessories include silk scarves, sunglasses and fedora hats adorned with the fun-spirited Mickey Mouse motif for every inner child at Disneyland.
