The project combines two of Markle’s biggest passions: empowering women and cooking
Kensington Palace has announced that Meghan Markle’s first solo project as a member of the royal family will be supporting a new charity cookbook featuring recipes from women affected by the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire in London.
In the aftermath of the fire, a group of local women at the Al Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre decided to use the space to cook food for their families and neighbours and eventually formed the Hubb Community Kitchen.

The cookbook, aptly named Together, will feature 50 dishes from the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and Eastern Mediterranean written and cooked by the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, with a foreword from the Duchess of Sussex.
“In January 2018, when I was settling into my new home in London, I met a group of women whose community had been affected by the Grenfell Fire,” says Markle in a video shared to social media. “I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen. Like these women, I am passionate about food and cooking as a way of strengthening communities.”
The money raised by the Together cookbook will be monitored by the Royal Foundation, of which the duchess is a patron alongside Prince Harry and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. It will then be distributed to the Hubb Community Kitchen and other related projects.
