A pioneer of sustainably-made clothes and accessories that give back to the community, Gabriela Hearst often advocates using fashion as a force for good. Partnering with e-tailer Net-a-Porter, the Uruguayan designer’s latest initiative is in aid of the Save The Children foundation and its global relief effort to help children affected by the coronavirus crisis.

Despite the easing of lockdown restrictions, the pandemic is still affecting millions of people worldwide and impacting the world’s most vulnerable children. From families losing income to children missing school and losing loved ones, the crisis has left many children at risk — which is why Save The Children’s global Coronavirus Response Fund is currently vital to more than 110 countries.

The fund works to provide food, learning resources, healthcare, hygiene information and training to reduce the spread of the virus, and is focused on keeping children as safe as possible.

Gabriela Hearst and Net-a-Porter’s new two-week project, will therefore, be donating to the the foundation’s fund in an effort to improve the health, education and protection of children around the globe.

From June 29, Net-a-Porter will donate 10 per cent of profits made from Gabriela Hearst’s selection of handbags on the e-commerce platform to Save The Children and with every sale made, Gabriela Hearst will match this donation.

Encouraging a purposeful purchase — whether it’s a classic Nina leather tote in tan or a hand-knitted cashmere shoulder bag — the project aims to give back to those who need it most and use fashion for the greater good.

The handbag initiative coincides with the launch of Gabriela Hearst’s new Baez bag, which joins the popular Nina, Diana and Demi silhouettes. Introduced during the brand’s spring/summer 2020 presentation, the Baez transforms into two separate styles; folded or worn as a small tote.

Sharp, savvy and sure to draw in the fashion pack in, the bag will also be included in the two week giving-back initiative — which makes now the perfect time to buy. Net-a-porter.com
