As founder of luxury handbag label NS by Noof, Bahraini designer Noof Al Shekar isn’t a stranger to the finer things in life. Whether working on her latest collection or spending time with her sons, Noof doesn’t waste a minute of her fabulous day
I wake up at… 7.30am. I like to have an early start, so I can make the most of the morning.
My morning routine normally consists of… my first coffee, which I enjoy on my balcony before I get stuck into my emails and plan the day. I start a workout at around 9am, shower and then leave for work.
I’m responsible for… designing and handling manufacturing, as well as organising the seasonal collections.
My typical day… I’ll either head into the office or the store to handle the day-to-day issues, and ensure I maintain all of my relationships with my staff. There’s a lot of planning and working on marketing campaigns, too.
My go-to working wardrobe consists of… lots of pants! Cropped, wide leg or high waisted, with silk shirts and oversized blazers. I like to make sure I look professional, as it puts me in the working mood.
For lunch… I usually have a late lunch full of protein, carbs and vegetables. If I’ve got a lunch meeting, though, I opt for a salad with some protein thrown in.
What I love most about my job is… that I get to design and create what I love – handbags. I always get to choose first from my collection too, as my pieces are limited.
And what I enjoy the least is… handling finances and logistics is very stressful.
When I’m not at work, I wear… I’m obsessed with two things – shorts and backless outfits. My favourite pieces are a black Zimmerman playsuit with an open back, and a Versace suit skirt with a cropped backless top. I also love throwing on a dress, as they are easy to wear and look very feminine. Roland Mouret pieces are my favourite, as they look just as amazing at a work function as at dinner. I also like to mix vintage pieces, especially jackets and coats.
When I get home, I… have something to eat, check on my boys, check their homework and see if there is anything else I need to deal with. Then I’ll either meet friends or watch a movie. I also like to draw and read spiritual books that guide me to evolve and become the best version of myself.
I couldn’t live without… my kids, working out, and the beach.
When I feel stressed, I… usually go for walks if the weather is nice, or I like to switch off and run errands, such as picking up the groceries. I find focusing on a necessary duty helps me to destress.
If I wasn’t in my current position, I would be… a stylist. Shop NS by Noof
