After 2 months of Covid-19 restrictions, Dubai is gradually re-opening various spheres of life we previously took forgotten; 50 per cent of workers are allowed to return to the office, gyms are back in operation and cinemas are also re-opening. While restrictions in the city are easing, there are still strict safety regulations in place with a strong message to be responsible when leaving the house. One of these protective measures is to where face masks, with a new set of government guidelines outlining exactly when and where you need to wear a mask.
Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management advised that masks should be worn in public areas, but can be temporarily removed in these cases; when driving alone or with family members, eating or drinking in indoor or outdoor settings, engaging in strenuous exercise, swimming or skydiving, during a medical treatment or when alone in an office space. Children under six, those who require supplemental oxygen or have severe respiratory issues, and those with cognitive or sensory medical conditions are exempt from wearing masks.
With face masks in Dubai still mandatory, and more outdoor activities on the agenda, it’s worth considering a protective face covering that you’re happy to wear for a prolonged period of time, and leave the surgical masks for the professionals. From silk iterations that are kinder on the skin, to more fashion friendly fabrics such as cloth and cotton, the Covid-19 pandemic has seen a rise in the production of more creative (and even chic) face masks that can be worn more than once.
Unlike Billie Eilish’s bejeweled Gucci face mask for the Grammys, these masks are not fashion accessories and should be worn to help stop the spread of coronavirus — but with that said, we can see why you’d be for searching for an aesthetically pretty covering that’s also more sustainable. Here are the most stylish face masks to buy online and wear in Dubai as the city gradually gets back to business.
