Watch Now: MOJEH’s May Cover Story Explores the Best of Couture SS18

In Creatures of Nature, MOJEH explores the best of couture SS18 from Valentino and Dior, to Ashi and Iris Van Herpen. Watch the video here, filmed by Guillaume Delorme

Today’s couture moves from classic to contemporary, and all that falls in between. For the best of couture SS18, think all-encompassing visions of archetypal beauty by day. Middle Eastern designer Ashi offers a crimson red gown with pleat upon pleat of fragile chiffon forming curves and columns of feminine movement. Similarly, Giambattista Valli presents a bridal worthy piece in white, with delicate embroidered violet hued tulips forming the bustier. For a more lively colour palette, Schiaparelli’s tiered princess shaped gown moves from yellow and orange to turquoise and lilac.
Later on, models Erin Treschel and Eline Hoyois dabble with edgier forms and the more unexpected side of couture. Iris Van Herpen’s scalloped dress is more reptile than it is haute, yet its enigmatic beauty is vivid. Meanwhile, Valentino‘s take on Haute Couture for SS18 is different to say the least – think trench coats worn over over-sized cargo pants and tailored shirts. But the pièce de résistance can be found in the house’s head-pieces: layer upon layer of brightly hued feathers. Ostentatious yet epic.
