The Shoot: Chanel High Jewellery Celebrates 100 Years Of No.5

To celebrate its centenary, Chanel crafted the spectacular N°5 High Jewellery Collection. A work of art 100 years in the making, a piece of history can now be yours.

On 5 May, 1921, Gabrielle Chanel launched a fragrance she called No.5. 100 years later, Director of the Fine Jewellery Creation Studio at Chanel, Patrice Leguéreau unveiled the spectacular high jewellery collection in honour of the anniversary. Fragrance meets high jewellery for the very first time with the Chanel No.5 High Jewellery collection; no other Maison has ever crafted a jewellery collection inspired by a fragrance. A celebration of an icon, five signature elements are transformed into wearable art: the stopper, the bottle, the number, the flowers and the fragrance trail.

The number five represents freedom in numerology and is deemed lucky by many. “I didn’t just wish to translate the fragrance, but to write the No.5 story in high jewellery,” says Patrice Leguéreau, “imbuing the fabled number throughout the collection in form, but also in spirit.”
