Fashion Film: Chanel Cruise 2021/22 Collection

New year, new wardrobe, new you. Embrace the opportunities 2022 has to offer in tweed-trimmed day suits, structured sleeves and accessories aplenty, courtesy of the Chanel 21/22 Cruise collection.

Virginie Viard was inspired by artist-poet Jean Cocteau – a close personal friend of Gabrielle Chanel – and his 1959 film Le Testament d’Orphée for the mainly black-and-white Chanel cruise 2021/22 collection. In the show notes from the presentation, Viard explained the colour palette, saying “the precision and the poetry of Cocteau’s film made me want to create a very clean collection with a very distinct two-tone, made up of bright white and deep black.” The punk palette may be every rock chick’s dream but colour-lovers are not forgotten; pink pastel tweed and lilac feathers complement the collection, adding delicate pops of femininity throughout.

Fouad photographs the Chanel cruise 2021/22 collection for MOJEH while Houssein Kazma captures Sara Riak as she wanders the sprawling grounds of Sharjah’s House of Wisdom, marvelling at its architecture in the desert sun.
