Last week, in the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, Mercedez Benz Fashion Week  Los Cabos  was held from April 2-6. This was celebrated as a “Luxury Edition” event, spotlighting the best of regional design while welcoming six design talents from Saudi Arabia.

Beloved Mexican designers such as Alfredo Martinez, Kris Goyri, Abel López, and Sandra Weil shared the stage with newcomers from the Saudi fashion scene, brought together through a special collaboration with the Saudi Arabia Fashion Commission.

This fusion of talent introduced designers like Dazluq, Khawla Al Aiban, Kaf by Kaf, NH Designer, Nora Al Shaikh, and Waad Aloqali to the runway, adding a diverse and international dimension to the festivities. Let’s delve into the contributions of these Saudi designers.

Founded by Kawthar Alhoraish, Kaf by Kaf is a contemporary luxury brand. Its latest collection draws inspiration from Riyadh’s oldest farmer’s market, “Alrabwah,” featuring vibrant designs and original prints that capture Saudi essence. The collection was well-received in Los Cabos, showcasing refreshing looks with knit garments and fluid silhouettes. It included dresses, tops, caftans, and long skirts in Kurdish tones, black, and splashes of colour like yellow, along with fruity elements and colourful details.

NH Designer stands out for its luxurious and innovative bridal wear, crafting each piece to make brides and their guests shine on their special day. The brand’s collection at the event was a showcase of splendid evening gowns, adorned with sparkles, embellishments, tulle, and vivid colours such as magenta, turquoise, yellow, as well as softer hues like blush pink and nude.

Nora Al Shaikh is a contemporary luxury brand that spans clothing, accessories, and fragrances. Its designs reflect a cosmopolitan Arabia blending tradition with modernity. At the show, Nora Al Shaikh presented modern attire that epitomizes the empowered, contemporary woman, featuring sophisticated reinterpretations of tailored pieces and cotton shirts. The collection’s palette mainly consisted of khaki, white, navy, and pastel shades like peach and pink.

 

Waad Aloqaili

Waad Aloqaili, co-founded with her sister Ahlem, presents each collection as a fresh chapter of empowerment, with every unique piece reflecting aspects of the feminine experience. The brand’s collection at the event was filled with magnificent evening dresses, featuring sparkles, embellishments, tulle, and a vibrant colour scheme including magenta, turquoise, yellow, and softer tones like blush pink and nude.

Saudi designer Khawla Al-Aiban founded her eponymous fashion brand in 2018, driven by a lifelong passion for fashion and a knack for creating unique, elegant looks. Her designs, known for their elegant simplicity, blend modern touches with traditional elements, embodying femininity and sophistication. Al-Aiban’s “Desert Roses” collection showcases this blend, featuring soft, flexible fabrics like Spanish crepe and taffeta, embellished with handmade floral details, each piece reflecting the beauty and elegance central to her vision of empowering women through luxurious, sensory-stimulating garments.

Dazluq

Dazluq unveiled its “Under the Sea” collection drawing inspiration from the Red Sea’s enchanting world. The looks featured vibrant coral-inspired tones, intricate textures and designs that captured beauty of the marine paradise. Founded in 2016 by Salma Zahran, Dazluq focuses high-end women’s made to measure, catering to red carpet events, weddings, and special evenings. Based in Miami and Saudi Arabia, the brand aspires to lead in Saudi Arabia’s international fashion scene, enhancing the regional fashion landscape with its minimalist elegance, sensual layers, and innovative use of Scuba fabric, highlighting Zahran’s commitment to innovation and quality in classic, body-flattering silhouettes.
