Elie Saab’s autumn/winter show was pleasantly shocking to the label’s loyal fans. The punk rock twist to folksy maxi dresses sure make for the first choice at the upcoming festival season. MOJEH.com looks closely at Elie Saab 2.0’s show, hot off the runway in Paris.

We’ve been studying the gradual shift from classic eveningwear to more avant-garde and inventive changes in Elie Saab’s design process across his last few shows, including the Indian Safari themed show at Paris Haute Couture s/s16 —complete with metallic boots and studded backpacks. In the latest a/w16 collection, the Lebanese designer caters to the need of a younger and free-spirited target audience, who love their share of punk and rock ‘n’ roll and still appreciate excellent craftsmanship.

In an overall dark undertone, the runway was flooded with lace mini and maxidresses decorated with blue and red floral embroideries, a selection of witchy lace-up dresses with a very noticeable Western buckle belt. An abstract cloudy and crimson sky print maxi caught our eye on a very famous Jenner, under a black leather motorcycle jacket, epitomizing the spirit of the evening along with another set of purple suede boots with black tassel trim spotted later in the show.

Clearly the current wave of revolutionising designs and craftwork have touched the designer’s work, while still maintaining the classic Elie Saab polish.
