Nicolas Ghesquière celebrates Louis Vuitton’s history with an innovative take on tradition

Louis Vuitton introduces a new bag to its roster in celebration of the Maison’s history. Launching on 25 August, the GO-14 is one of Ghesquière’s first designs for the Maison – the bag’s name is an abbreviation of ‘Ghesquière October 2014’, the date his first collection debuted – and is wrapped in the Maison’s traditional malletage for 2023.

The GO-14 is a guaranteed It Bag thanks to its timeless appeal

Malletage is a criss-crossed padding inspired by the luxurious lining of Louis Vuitton’s iconic trunks. Though it has featured in previous Louis Vuitton collections, this is the first time malletage finds itself as the star of the show and incorporated with supple lambskin leather. The marriage of malletage and leather is an intricate process requiring complex savoir-faire comprising over 20 steps.

Skilled artisans add the finishing touch: the LV twist lock

The GO-14 is available in a range of neutrals that highlight its sumptuous texture and is sure to be autumn’s It Bag, having been seen on the arms of Cate Blanchett, Emma Stone and Chloe Grace Moretz. Completed by a delicate gold chain and structured handle (which can be converted into a leather pad on the chain for extra-comfortable wear), the GO-14 is a timeless celebration of the Maison’s history and craftsmanship.
