With 2019 fast approaching and numerous New Year’s resolutions (including new diets and workouts) being set, MOJEH.com spoke to Golan Raz, head of global health division at Lycored, which is one of the leaders in research and development of carotenoid-based wellness products, to find out which food trends we can expect to see in 2019 that translate to real health benefits.
A mix of yellow and red tomatoes together with high quality cold pressed olive oil is not just a Mediterranean favourite, but also a massage for the skin, the way it should be given – from the inside out. Tomatoes contain a natural mix of carotenoids that were scientifically shown to support healthy skin. Those chemically active molecules (lycopene, phytoene, and phytofluene) are our skin’s best nutritional friends, helping to support its resilience to environmental stress.
Seaweed is not just a source for a wonderful mix of nutrients, it is also known to promote the natural production of collagen. There are many breeds of seaweed and some of them are considered to be algae. Some types of algae also contain astaxanthin, another well-researched molecule that has good scientific relevancy to skin’s wellness and beauty from within.
Really dark chocolate
One of earth’s tastiest secrets, true dark chocolate (with a minimum of 85% cacao) is high in antioxidants and polyphenols, but low on sugars. It is a relatively natural, less processed, dairy-free (check the label), and vegan skin and wellness boost.
