Louis Vuitton goes interstellar with its latest Haute Joaillerie collection, which comes crafted from a creative constellation of precious gemstones.
If you’ve ever stood outside, stared up at the stars and seen a constellation of sparking jewels, you’ll understand the inspiration behind Louis Vuitton’s latest high jewellery collection. An ode to the solar system and the iridescent night sky, the 90-piece Stellar Times collection – the second conceived by the French fashion house’s artistic director of watches and jewellery, Francesca Amfitheatrof – is designed to transport you to another universe, where dazzling diamonds, opals, rubies, sapphires and emeralds adorn statement necklaces, earrings and rings.
Fusing both art and science, the Stellar Times collection references seven celestial bodies with a collection of different gemstones, including sapphire and emeralds for Planète Bleue. Crafted with a minimal and elegant design to symbolise the Earth’s relationship to the galaxy, this strikingly simple choker boasts a magnificent collection of very pure diamond baguettes. It comes set with a 4.63 carat Zambian emerald and a monogram flower-cut diamond that swoops over the neck, nestling on the décolletage with a sapphire from Madagascar: a plump 13.77 carat pear shape with perfect crystal properties. The necklace is complemented by a set of earrings comprising two emeralds of 2.02 carats and 1.90 carats, and 1.38 carat LV star-cut diamonds. “This theme is inspiring because of the artistic value in stones embodying planets, but I am also fascinated by the immensity of the cosmos, by journeying through space and by this feeling of wonder at all the beauty of the universe,” says Francesca Amfitheatrof. It is this fascination that ensures Louis Vuitton reaches for the stars each and every time.
