If you ever question the true definition of magnificent, look no further than the Bvlgari Magnifica High Jewellery collection for clarity (as well as cut, carat and colour, of course).

The Bvlgari Magnifica collection is an astonishing display of craftsmanship with kaleidoscopic high jewellery pieces featuring ginormous gems and intricate details. Each piece took Bvlgari's skilled artisans over 2,500 hours to complete. One of the stand-outs of the collection is the Mediterranean Queen High Jewellery necklace which totals 473.82 carats thanks to five oval cushion-cut Paraiba tourmalines - the central stone alone weighs 153.91 carats - set between emeralds and diamonds. Inspired by a 1969 Bvlgari piece and representative of crashing ocean waves, the show-stopping creation is made all the more impressive due to the rarity of the tourmaline; only one is found for every 10,000 diamonds.

The Prodigious Colour High Jewellery necklace is an ode to Artemisia Gentileschi. A trailblazing artist known for her explosive use of colour, she was one of the first females to become a painter and has been featured in art history books as the most forward-thinking artist of her generation. Her passion is represented in Bvlgari's Magnifica collection with amethyst, citrine, rubellite, blue topaz, pink quartz, diamonds and green tourmaline. If there was ever an example of a masterpiece, the Prodigious Colour High Jewellery necklace is it.

Elsewhere, the Imperial Spinel High Jewellery necklace displays Bvlgari's commitment to uniqueness. You can't help but be awe-struck by the splendid 131.21 carat spinel; it is the fourth-largest spinel in the world with the list-toppers taking pride of place in Russian and British Imperial crowns. While the spinel may be the focus of the high jewellery necklace, its surrounding diamonds and emerald beads are equally as impactful. A testament to Bvlgari's artisans, the piece - although large - has been created with comfort and wearability in mind.

According to the House, Bvlgari's Magnifica collection "showcases the Roman jeweller’s strenuous commitment to magnificence, the driving force and ultimate goal of all its activities." We would have to agree. Above, browse the Magnifica High Jewellery collection as photographed by Txema Yeste for MOJEH 88.
