Just like that, another fashion month has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t keep revelling in the key trends. From bucket hats to cargo pants, here is our roundup of the biggest trends from the SS19 shows and tips on how to wear them now.

The colour yellow

According to Tibi, Oscar de la Renta, and even Erdem, yellow is going to be the colour of spring, but the trick to pulling it off is all in the shade. If you have a medium or olive skin tone, stick to brighter variations of the hue, while pale skin girls should opt for mustard, dark yellow and very pale yellow. If you have a dark skin tone, count yourself lucky, because you can wear any shade of yellow you like, even neon.

Statement sleeves

From big and billowy in shape to extra long in length, statement sleeves were seen all over the SS19 runways. To pull of the look like a street style star, you’ll want to create some balance by wearing dramatic sleeves with skinny jeans and your favourite heels.

Short suiting

Playful suiting is having a moment thanks to the rising tailoring trend seen all over the runways and street style scene, but Dion Lee and Maryam Nassis Zadeh have amped things up a notch by bringing back the short suit. For a foolproof look, stick to monochrome shades and longer shorts to really tap into ’80s style.

Cargo pants

According to Jonathan Simkhai, Prabal Gurung and Fendi, there's a new “ugly” trend looming. That said, these are not the grungy, low-slung trousers you once knew, now cargo pants have taken on a new elegance. Teamed with a crisp white shirt and a pair of heels, they embody contemporary chic.
