NYFW SS19: Neon Is The Controversial Trend Brightening Up The Runway

Fluorescent brights have been resurrected for SS19

If you’re not a fan of autumn’s mostly muted tones, you’ll be pleased to know that the runways of New York Fashion Week have the solution to brighten up your wardrobe. From day-glow yellow to highlighter pink, neon is the perfect antidote to an otherwise dreary time of year. While neon has long worked for street and athletic-wear, what’s new for SS19 is how the fluorescent tones are now showing up on everything from gowns to tailored jumpsuits.

At Prabal Gurung, the designer showcased neon yellow, highlighter green, and even popping pink, which was either worn in contrast or from head-to-toe. Tibi offered a grownup way to wear the trend with bright orange knitwear, while Brandon Maxwell opted for a colourful collection that included a range of shocking pink pieces.

If you can’t wait until next spring to wear the trend, you’ll be pleased to know that there are plenty of neon bright designs available to shop now. We’ve rounded up a few of our favourites below.
