What inspired your spring/summer collection and do you find yourself returning to the same sources of inspiration?

The main element to this collection was fun, I wanted it to be more colourful and playful. I designed the love heart digital print, which I love, we have never included any sort of print in a collection before so it was exciting to see the design come to life. My main source of inspiration is always the same, it is women and their personality, style and power.

How has your aesthetic developed over the past five years?

I think my aesthetic has stayed the same in most senses but my lady has grown, she is five years older, she is more elegant but still likes to have lots of fun!

You recently collaborated with Coca Cola Light on a can design, what did that mean to you?

I was so greatly flattered to be asked to work with such an iconic brand. Working alongside as so many other huge designers and brands was amazing.

Tell us more about the geometric shapes on the can…

Each shape represents a form of DNA or an important person in my life, they are all merging together to form the love heart in the middle. This is my interpretation of my love for life: my family and my friends.

What has been the greatest lesson you’ve learnt as an emerging designer?

I have learnt that the road is very rocky and unpredictable, patience is definitely needed as it takes time to grow a new brand. Follow you natural instincts and don’t listen too much to other people’s opinions.

What have been the challenges in balancing being a designer in London with having a strong following in the Middle East?

There aren’t any challenges, my brand and style fits the preferences of the Middle Eastern customers naturally. I am very happy to have a strong following in the Middle East as I am half Jordanian so it is important to me.

You’ve dressed many musicians, does this influence your collections?

I am a big fan of pop music and these are the kind of musicians I love to dress, I listen to their music and observe their style and personality so this subconsciously has an effect when designing.

Who has been the biggest support in your career so far and in what way?

All my family and friends are my biggest support, without them I couldn’t survive.

What’s next for Hasan Hejazi?

We will be working on the next collection straight away for pre-Fall 2016, there are also some potential upcoming collaborations but you have to wait and see!
