Following a last-minute hiatus from fashion week in February, Tom Ford makes his return to the schedule and New York after staging his last runway show in Los Angeles in 2015. If the teaser videos leaked on the brand’s Instagram account are anything to go by, we can expect to see super glamorous and heavily embellished outfits with a hint of Studio 54 to them.

The Diane von Furstenburg show is always one of the season’s most highly anticipated but with Jonathan Saunders making his designer debut at the brand, we now have even more to look forward to! Saunders, whose namesake label closed last year, has perfected the creative use of colour and print over the course of his career through his playful and innovative designs. We can’t wait to see what he’ll offer up at DVF.

It’s no secret that Tommy Hilfiger has established himself as a true showman when it comes to his runway sets. Who can forget his autumn/winter16 collection which saw the Park Avenue Armory transformed into an American football stadium complete with its very own Jumbotron screening the models as they strutted down the astroturf runway? Or last season’s enormous T.H. Atlantic cruiseliner for that matter? This season’s showcase is set to be his biggest yet with Pier 16 South Street Seaport poised for a Tommy takeover complete with a 40-foot ferris wheel, public carnival and 2,000 guests! In addition to this, Gigi Hadid’s capsule collection with the brand will also be revealed at the show – watch this space!

The Up-and-Comers:There are a number of relatively new NYC-based brands that we recommend you keep an eye on this week. Öhlin/D is a contemporary womenswear brand that prides itself on producing stylish and well-made clothes as sustainably as possible. Their feminine and slightly nostalgic silhouettes are sure to be a hit with the fash pack. Denim-focused R13 was launched in 2009 however its designer Chris Leba remained anonymous till February of this year when the brand staged its first runway show.  Leba’s 90’s-inspired grungy autumn/winter16 collection made a big impression, so much so it’s already stocked by retailers such as Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue and NET-A-PORTER. As streetwear continues to navigate its way into high fashion, former LVMH prize winner Shaye Oliver leads the movement with his brand Hood By Air. The buzz surrounding Hood By Air’s gender fluid, avant-garde designs grows louder each season and currently shows no sign of quietening down.
