Upcycled by Miu Miu has collaborated with Levi’s to seal its long-term commitment to sustainability, giving new life to pre-loved denim with jewel-encrusted pockets and lace contrasting.

When Miu Miu launched its Upcycled by Miu Miu capsule collection at the end of 2020 and we saw 80 one-off designs refashioned from the 1930s to 1980s, it became the latest luxury brand to pay attention to its increasing environmental footprint. The move is significant due to the huge amount of waste produced by the fashion industry.

Now the Italian fashion house has linked up with Levi’s to give new life to pre-loved denim by using vintage Made In USA men’s 501 jeans, shorts and trucker jackets from the 1980s and 1990s to customise 1,000 womenswear pieces, hand-embellished with crystal, pearl, floral and all-over diamanté embroideries as well as Art Deco-inspired intarsia motifs – an exclusive selection of which will be available at The Dubai Mall. Jeans are cut off to the thigh or finished with ivory silk duchesse turn-ups, while the trucker jackets come adorned with oversized white lace collars. As to be expected, the campaign is equally as cool, with the collection worn my Miu Miu muses actor Emma Corrin and models Lila Moss and Georgia Palmer, all stylishly captured by the expert eye of Johnny Dufort. What better time to embrace the power of vintage? Available at The Dubai Mall and online from 24 May.
