Gigi Hadid photographs Gabriella Karefa-Johnson’s Weekend Max Mara campaign
Though usually in front of the lens, supermodel Gigi Hadid ventured behind the camera to capture stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson’s kaleidoscopic Weekend Max Mara Spring 2022 capsule collection, Family Affair. Gabriella has previously worked with Gigi and the duo have become close friends, leading to Gigi’s involvement in the Weekend Max Mara campaign.
The eclectic collection was inspired by Gabriella’s family members’ style, in particular her mother’s. “I was really drawn to what they were all wearing in the ‘60s and ‘70s when my mom was a pre-teen,” she told MOJEH when discussing her collection.
This isn’t Gigi’s first foray into photography: she photographed a campaign for Versace in 2017 and Miu Miu A/W 2020. Gigi is also an avid off-duty photographer, publishing behind-the-scenes snaps taken on disposable film to a dedicated Instagram account.
