While Halima Aden and co reigned in 2019, the new decade catapults a slew of new faces into the spotlight. These are the five emerging models that ruled the SS20 catwalks, and the faces we predict you’ll be seeing a lot more of during fashion month — starting with New York on February 6…
AJOK MADEL
From South Sudanese origin, 19-year old Ajok Madel was born in a Kenyan refugee camp before her mother fled to Australia. And despite being relatively new to the modelling world – she’s only 18 months into her career – she has already made her mark. This season she cemented her position as one of this season’s most in-demand models, walking for the likes of Alexander McQueen, Victoria Beckham and Tom Ford for SS20.
EVIE HARRIS
Considering SS20 was this blue-eyed, blonde-haired Brit’s first catwalk season, she’s off to a stellar start. The fresh-faced beauty has already managed to grab the attention of the major fashion houses, including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Miu Miu, Stella McCartney and Valentino – all of whom she walked for. She also made her catwalk debut opening the J.W. Anderson SS20 show.
KYLA RAMSEY
Kyla Ramsey was modeling for her mum’s vintage store in Connecticut before advancing on to global notoriety on the SS19 catwalks where she was snapped up as a worldwide exclusive for Louis Vuitton. She went onto open the Prada Reort 2020 show, and this season – SS20 – leant her 5’9 frame to Chanel, Dior, MaxMara, Saint Laurent and Dior. In her spare time Kyla apparently mentors at a children’s home, and aspires to use her modeling to give back to the community.
MALIKA EL MASLOUHI
Malika was born in Milan to an Italian mother and Moroccan father. Just 19, she has is already being touted as the next Imaan Hammam. Her spring 2020 catwalk highlights included all the big-name brands including Chanel, Christian Dior, Richard Quinn, Ralph Lauren. The versatility of her looks mean the 19-year-old has also been fronting campaigns for H&M, Zara and Urban Outfitters.
SACHA QUENBY
Having walked the SS20 catwalk or the likes of Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Givenchy and J.W. Anderson, London-based Sacha Quenby is definitely a name to know for this season and next. A natural beauty, her 5’10 frame and dark features have earned the 19-year-old her place as one of the hottest bookings of the season.
