GIVENCHY SS20

The spring/summer 2020 runway put femininity at the forefront with a series of lingerie-inspired looks to take cues from this Valentine’s Day. From Mugler’s clinched-in corsetry worn beneath cropped blazers, to Tom Ford’s leather bras and strappy silhouettes, the catwalk called for body confidence with an updated take on the undergarment trend. Whether you’re feeling bold or prefer to be more modest, here’s edit of lacy lingerie and fanciful slips perfect for the month of love.

FIRST BLUSH: Givenchy showcased a ‘90s love affair for spring/summer 2020, with a nod to an era that was dominated by supermodels in slip dresses and peekaboo silhouettes. How to wear the trend in 2020? Opt for silky bralettes in barely-there blush, sultry nudes or baby pink, paired with a black leather skirt if you’re feeling vampy.

BACK TO BLACK: For SS2o, Docle & Gabbana tapped into the house archives and revealed a reimagined take on past lingerie ensembles. On the runway, sheer bodices, satin bustiers and lace hems were revived in a seductive palette of boudoir classic black.

BEYOND THE BOUDIOR: Gucci’s SS20 catwalk made a case for underwear as outwear, transforming nightwear and getting-ready robes into elevated evening attire. If you want to take this look into date night, rework your prettiest slip with sling-back heels and embellished jewellery, wear silky skirts with chunky knits for a casual chic style, or layer bold hued bodies under blazers or sheer blouses.
