The graffiti, the feathers and the disco-fever injected with Italian aristocracy —Alessandro Michele gave us many reasons to obsess over his renaissance-inspired winter wear at Gucci.

Gucci Autumn/Winter ’16 Backstage
This collection – entitled Rhizomatic Scores – derives from the philosophical theory of Deleuze and Guattari that assumes the non-connective relationships that occur in nature. “Thinking has to be ‘rhizomatic’…It has to generate a movement able to proliferate in different directions,” as explained in the shownotes. The title aptly extends into Michele’s collection for Gucci, which contained a multitude of themes, from puffy Eighties shoulders and bodices inspired by 16th century portraits, to contemporary street artist Trouble Andrew aka GucciGhost’s spray-paintings of the Gucci logo on biker jackets. The collection bore all his signature emblems too, including opulent brocade and embroidery, florals, bows and ruffles. This season however, there was the addition of Masonic symbols and prints derived from early Renaissance drawings.
The creative pranks of Instagram sensation GucciGhost paid off when Michele invited him into the official Gucci fold after noticing the Brooklyn-based street artist’s genius tampered-with version of the Gucci logo in graffiti, wall art and even printed on vintage clothes. For autumn/winter 2016, the unlikely collaborators presented leather shoppers with painted GG logos and impeccably crafted items of clothing, adorned with graffiti prints.

But as the mood of this fashion month brings change and reformation to the forefront, Gucci created three unique makeup looks with makeup artist Pat McGrath and myriads of different hairstyles, resulting in no two models sharing a look.
