It can be tricky to dress for an event that gathers the who’s who of the fashion industry, with designers, their muses and A-list influencers all trying to shine brighter than the rest. But that never dampens the spirit at the CFDA Awards. The ceremony welcomes and encourages their guests to take risks and experiment with their look, and that’s exactly what fashion’s leading ladies did when they stepped out on the red carpet. There was, however, a musical undertone to each outfit, paying tribute to the two musical icons we lost this year, David Bowie and Prince.
