Designers put their differences aside for the Love Brings Love Alber Elbaz tribute show at Paris Fashion Week

On the last night of Paris Fashion Week 45 designers came together to remember late designer Alber Elbaz at the Love Brings Love fashion show hosted by AZ Factory. Balenciaga, Lanvin, Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, Gucci, Valentino and Viktor & Rolf were just some of the designers who showcased a creation crafted specifically for the tribute. Designs ranged from more obvious salutes with portraits of Alber adorning dresses while others gave a subtle nod to the designer with the addition of a bow tie: his signature accessory. Virgil Abloh re-created a Lanvin design for his contribution while Lanvin’s creation, when viewed from above, revealed a photograph of the House’s former creative director.

Alber Elbaz passed away from Covid-19 complications in April, 2021. A testament to the love, respect and appreciation possessed by his peers, the emotional evening was more than an hour late by the time everyone in attendance was seated. The show began with AZ Factory’s own design: the iconic My Body dress in black, worn by Adut Akech. What followed was a celebration of not only Alber’s personal style but defining fashion moments throughout his career, ending when Amber Valletta – donning a velvet bowtie and baggy trousers – took a bow. After the tribute, AZ Factory presented its Spring/Summer 2022 collection and ended with confetti hearts descending from the ceiling with Love Train blaring from the speakers.
