Cartier unveils a fragrance ritual that marries skincare with haute parfumerie

Fragrance has existed for over 5,000 years – Ancient Egyptians burned incense for sacred rituals and discovered aromatic plant resins, later using scented oils as part of their daily lives. In the Middle East, perfume is at once a statement, form of self-expression and mark of individuality; the art of fragrance layering has long been practiced to provide wearers with a bespoke scent that leaves a lasting impact. Cartier reveals its latest innovation, Les Bases À Parfumer, which offers a new fragrance-layering ritual through three decadent products.

Huile Pure is a nourishing oil that can be used on the hair, body and face and paired with the Crème Pure moisturising body cream. These two products are unscented, however, when used alongside the third, Les Gouttes de Parfum Concentré, a potent iteration of the Maison’s four signature fragrances, they allow the wearer to apply perfume in a novel way. “Les Bases À Parfumer offer a fragrance ritual that is true to our times,” explains Cartier perfumer Mathilde Laurent. “The freedom to do it yourself, for yourself, whatever your desires.” The four fragrances available are La Panthère, Oud & Santal, l’Heure Diaphane and Pure Rose, all in a delightfully intense oil. Each sumptuous product in the collection features Peregrina oil derived from the Moringa Peregrina tree from Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia; Les Gouttes de Parfum Concentré is equal parts perfume concentrate and peregrina oil.

Application is however you desire, whether you prefer using the unscented products as part of your self-care ritual and spritzing your favourite scent overtop or applying drops of Les Gouttes de Parfum Concentré directly into the Huile Pure or Crème Pure for an all-over fragrance payoff.

Not only beautiful on the inside, each product is wrapped in Cartier’s emblematic gold gadroons and is guaranteed to take pride of place on any vanity. Les Bases À Parfumer launches exclusively in the Middle East on 1 March, followed by a world-wide launch on 1 April.
