There’s plenty to keep you busy around the country this weekend…

The countdown to the weekend is officially on. With less than a month to go until Ramadan, the country is gearing up for a slew of exciting events set to enrich your cultural palette. This weekend alone, the country is hosting some enriching experiences that range from music, film and culinary offerings.

The Staycation

Weekend Edit

Fresh, minimalist design is at the heart of the hotel

The white sandy beaches and rustic sand dunes of Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi offer residents of the UAE a new perspective on a weekend at the beach. With a bright and airy accommodation in a contemporary build, three swimming pools, five restaurants and a natural beach lined with sunbeds and cabanas, we’re certain this is where you’ll be spending most of your time this weekend: in a complete state of relaxation.

The New Menu

Weekend Edit

Bringing the true tastes of Argentina to a sleek spot in the middle of DIFC, Gaucho has completely revamped its menu to offer culinary seekers more flavourful dishes. For starters, why not entice your palates with a fig salad and smoked burrata and basil, before indulging in the restaurant’s signature dish: the Argentine cuts, all served with a choice of peppercorn, mushroom or Bearnaise sauce. On the dessert menu, their Dulce de leche cheesecake is a spoonful of sweetness.

Gaucho Dubai is located at Podium Level, Gate Village 05, DIFC. For reservations, please visit gauchodubai.com.

Yep, it’s true. Everyone’s favourite boyband, Boyzone, is hitting the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium stage this weekend. This might be the last time the legendary group (made up of Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Mikey Graham and Keith Duffy) will be on stage together, just FYI. Last year, the boyband announced that they are splitting up for good after their farewell tour in 2019. So, you might want to act fast and get your tickets to hear them sing No Matter What, Love Me For A Reason and All I Need.

Boyzone will perform at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium on April 12. For tickets, please visit theirishvillage.com

The Film

Weekend Edit

This weekend, cinemas across the UAE are set to screen Keira Knightley’s latest film, The Aftermath. The romantic drama – based on the book of the same name, by Welsh novelist Rhidian Brook – tells the story of Rachael Morgan (Keira) who arrives in the ruins of Hamburg in 1946. Reunited with her husband Lewis (Jason Clarke), the two set off to their new home only to discover that they’ll be sharing the grand house with its previous owners, a German widower and his troubled daughter. It seems like we’re in for an old-fashioned wartime romance that can be emotionally satisfying.

The Aftermath will be screening across all cinemas in the UAE from April 11, 2019.

The Wellness Package

We’re just around the corner from welcoming the summer sun, and if you’re looking for a programme to get that summer body (we know we are), there’s a new wellness package that will leave you feeling fitter – even before the season starts. Courtesy of Rebecca Treston’s latest Wellness campaign, Spring into Action, there’s a slew of programme packages that you can choose from. Whether it’s a complimentary body assessment at the EuroMed Clinic Center, a skin assessment consultation with Rebecca Treston or even an outdoor bootcamp on the shores at La Mer – there’s no doubt you’ll feel and be in your best shape yet. There is no fee to participate and the campaign programme will run from April 12 to May 3, 2019.

There’s always a new superstar in Dubai and this week, it’s the American hip-hop singer, French Montana. The artist has embarked on a regional tour that will see him perform in Egypt for the first time. But, before his debut performance, the Moroccan-born artist will perform at Meydan’s super club, Drai’s, this weekend. You know you’re in for a good time when he starts to perform his current hits including Unforgettable, No Stylist and Medicine (his latest track with Jennifer Lopez – which sees her in a Dubai-based designer for their music video).

French Montana will perform at Drai’s on April 11 as well as at White Dubai on April 13, 2019.

The Party

weekend Edit

Although the stormy weather is trying to keep us indoors all weekend, Zero Gravity’s One Big Beach Festival will be the only reason we head out this Friday. Plus, if you’re totally missing out on being at Coachella this weekend, then you need to go to the popular beach club. And here’s why. International superstars, Clean Bandit will be headlining the festival and performing some of our favourite hits including Rockabye, Rather Be and Solo. Plus, drum and bass team Sigma, Ibiza’s sax and DJ duo Lovely Laura and Ben Santiago and South Africa’s multi-genre group Goldfish, are all included in the line-up, too.

Sun, beach and soulful music – what’s not to love?

Zero Gravity’s One Big Beach Festival is set to take place on April 12, 2019. For tickets, please visit dubai.platinum.net
