Winter skies call for bright hues. Whether it’s complementary, clashing or the full shining spectrum, a riot of colour is in — the more shades the merrier

Tag, You’re It

With a rainbow of coloured paint drizzling down on the tough lines of Akillis’s military dog tag-inspired pendants, this meeting of conflict symbolism and joyful artistry is a bold statement of peace and happiness for our times. In this collab with Parisian artist and sculptor Zoulli Art, the edgy fine jewellery house is sending a thunderbolt to our hearts in primary colours. The Love tag symbol is an Akillis icon, and now with this touch of spray-can magic it’s all the more desirable.

Starlit

Emirati newcomer brand TOi is going for 18 carat gold with these chromatically appealing four-pointed stars. Named the Sparkle Candy collection, its standout piece is the contemporary ear cuff adorned with a rainbow of sapphires set in brushed gold, leaving a perfect canvas to show off the brilliance of the gems. Set off beautifully by a dainty matching choker, it’s a sweet combo sure to catch anyone’s eye — wish upon a star?

Here To Eternity

Fresh, vibrant and with just a hint of cute, these eternity rings from Chopard are an unmistakeable demonstration of love. A high jewellery collection entitled Coloured Dreams, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, tanzanite and a 5.5 carat yellow diamond take the central roles, while diamond brilliants add supporting sparkle in the shape of two new proprietary settings. The main stones nestle in tiny diamond-set hearts, allowing light to flood through the ring in a typically romantic touch from Chopard, well known for its impressive jewels and subtle whimsy.

She’s Like A Rainbow

Simple enough to be wearable, eye-catching enough to be impossible to go unnoticed, this petite and pretty necklace from local Dubai-based brand Oria is a joy to behold. The light-reflecting gems dance merrily on their chain, providing the perfect base for a stackable look. The vivid hues of this piece’s stones make it eminently matchable and versatile, in addition to being entirely handmade by Lebanese artisans. Beautiful, while supporting regional workers too? Killer Queen

Evoking the power and majesty of Ancient Egypt’s most famous and admired ruler, the Serpenti Misteriosi Cleopatra by Bulgari is truly a work of art — and was recognised as such by the judging panel of the 2023 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, when it scooped the Jewellery Watch Prize. Rather apt, as this is indeed as much a work of jewellery as it is a timepiece — the dial of the watch sits beneath one of three blue topazes, with two rubellites, two tanzanites, two amethysts and 86.8 carats of diamonds snow-set into the manchette-style rose gold cuff. There’s still plenty of horological cred, though — the miniature movement is water resistant up to 30 metres. Not your usual diving companion, granted, but when it’s fit for a queen, anything goes.

The Final Countdown

A chronograph’s never looked this good — and you’ll need it to count the seconds it takes passers-by to take another glance at this truly impressive watch. The much sought-after Royal Oak’s had something of a makeover, with brushed rose gold, 32-gem chromatic baguette-cut sapphire-set bezel and slick black tapisserie dial uniting to form an utterly desirable timepiece, fit for its regal name. Throw in the ergonomic rubber strap, and the Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Rainbow’s set to be the wrist candy of the season — if you can get your hands on one.

Blaze Of Glory

Dazzling red garnet, cool topaz and sea green peridot — whether worn alone or as a trio, these Iconica rings by Pomellato to combine the best of classic jewellery styles with modern, architectural references, all wrapped up in a deliciously smooth 18 carat rose gold package. Subtly textured with their inset style, the rings carry an almost Byzantine feel while still paying tribute to their fashionably Milanese origins. A combo that’ll remain in style forever, these rings are an investment for the next generation. Let them shine.

Listen To Your Heart

The drama is riding high in Chopard’s Precious Lace collection, with this magnificent rainbow pendant heart the ultimate in expressions of lapidary savoir faire. The Maison’s signature jewellery lacework in ethically-mined rose gold evokes a ribbon looping its way to form the outline of a heart, while the 75 pear-shaped sapphires that pick out the pendant and its chain have been so meticulously selected that they form a gentle and satisfying treat for the eyes. The hem of brilliant-cut diamonds that surrounds the stones provides a lightness to this high jewellery masterpiece, all anchored by a central splash of red.

Colour By Numbers

Revealing this striking green Damascus titanium number especially for Dubai Watch Week, Genus expressed that it was inspired by the colours of the UAE’s flag — and Dubai’s famously buzzing energy. Aptly named Green Rainbow, the highly coloured sapphires form a moving rainbow, part of the Maison’s signature time-telling style — in the absence of a traditional dial and hands, the mechanism rotates, taking the numbers on a 12-hour cycle that indicate the hours and minutes. Beautiful in its complexity, this is a timepiece to be contemplated and adored.
