PFW: Céline

42 sec read

Phoebe Philo has the no-nonsense approach down to an art form with her staples shaping the way we form our wardrobes season after season. Céline continued to champion the pared back palette with the brand’s ubiquitous black and white but this time designs were punctuated with the lapis blue and primrose yellow that have appeared prevalently for SS17.

The lingerie slips of SS16 were updated with heavy Gingham patterns that gave skirts and dresses a grown-up feel while draped hems injected a playful twist into the brand’s familiarly functional designs. Tailored trousers and outsized men’s jackets continued Philo’s philosophy of borrowing from the boys and shirts were shaken up with elongated proportions. Just like the skate shoe and structural accessories of the Philo’s past Céline turns the accessory on its head, shying away from the micro bags seen elsewhere the brand sent out stretched out shoulder bags in monochrome and elephant grey.
