Street Style File: Why The Loose Fit Trouser Is Your New Wardrobe Staple

In this week’s Street Style File, MOJEH looks into your next trouser trend: the loose fit. Here’s what you need to master the trend

From mixing fabrics to mismatching patterns, the loose fit trouser is the modest trend we didn’t know we needed. Floaty, laissez-faire outfits were seen across fashion weeks. And why not? It’s easy to master, achingly cool and comfortable to say the least. There are many ways to perfect the trend from the accessories you choose to your colour codes. Try mixing and matching  prints like polka dots and stripes, but remain within the same colour palette to avoid excessiveness. If you’re worried about getting lost in the scale of the trousers, tuck in your top or wear a belt or scarf around the waist to showcase the silhouette. Head to toe hues also work well. Pillow box red or blush pink are trend driven tones, but for those who are less adventurous, stone washes are a chic and sophisticated approach to summer. In fabric, silk and linen work best for the loose fit, but denim and cotton offer slightly more structure. The best part – this trouser cut works just as well with trainers as it does stilettos.
