Cold Weather Capsule: What to Wear in Cooler Climes

2 min read

Going away for the festive break? Consider this your guide to instant, out-of-office cool with a cold weather capsule to shop, now. Hopefully, you’re starting to wind down your workload and you’re looking forward to a well deserved break. And a well-styled one, too.

So, whether you’re seeking to inject a dose of nonchalance into your everyday wardrobe, looking to pack comfy basics for a European jaunt, or simply feel like wrapping up against the 20 degree lows – it’s not like we get much opportunity to embrace wool here – we have the ultimate off-duty uniform for cool winter days.

JAZZY BOOTS
It’s winter, there’s a slight chance of the odd shower so it’s time to upgrade you footwear. Although it doesn’t always feel cool enough to rock a serious winter boot, ankle boots are a worthy option. The offering this season is quite eclectic too – exotic snakeskin, mock croc, embellished, lace up and white, there’s a sole-mate out there for everyone. The best way to wear them is to leave a fraction of skin showing between the hem of your jeans, and the top of your boots, as seen here.

COSY KNITS
There’s so comforting about knitwear at this time of year – it is the season of wrapping up warm. Slightly shorter days, cooler climes, festive cooking and some much needed comfort after too many late nights means we’re seriously considering our knitwear options. And this season’s statement knits are worth investing in. Once reserved for jeans, jumpers are now being teamed with silk skirts, tailored trousers and even coordinating knits – just look to the fashion pack for inspiration. From balloon sleeves to colourful stripes knits have made a stylish, practical and much welcomed return to our wardrobes.

FAUX FUR COATS
It was way back in 2013 when Carine Roitfeld stepped out in a MaxMara Teddy coat and their popularity instantaneously spiked. Last year, too, Teddy coats proved one of the most popular coat trends of the season. Their return this year sees them shift from trend to wardrobe mainstay. With that in mind, if you haven’t already, it’s time to invest. Celine’s AW19 show is the ultimate place to start that shopping list, and if you’re looking for inspiration on how to wear them and create your cold weather capsule – look no further…
