Chanel brings its 2023/24 Métiers d’Art collection to Manchester on 7 December

Paris, Tokyo and most recently, Dakar, Chanel has unveiled its Métiers d’Art collection in various vibrant cities throughout the years. For the 2023/24 collection, Virginie Viard has chosen Manchester, England as the location for the presentation.

Chanel’s Métiers d’Art collections not only show in the chosen city, but take inspiration from its history and utilise local artisans and craftsmanship in a demonstration of both the Maison’s savoir faire and collaborative spirit. The Métiers d’art collection was first established in 2002 as a vessel to showcase the craftsmanship of Chanel’s specialty ateliers around the world. “This collection bears witness to the historic commitment of Chanel to this exceptional artisanal heritage and its influence around the world,” reads a statement from the Maison.

Manchester was at the heart of the revolution, becoming the first industrialised city in the world and the UK’s leading producer of cotton and textiles – the city has the loving moniker of “Cottonopolis.” Manchester is also regarded as the music capital of the UK and is the birthplace of many musicians’ success including the Bee Gees, Oasis and Take That. The Factory International arts centre opened in Manchester earlier this year, further cementing the city’s cultural presence.

The Manchester show will take place on 7 December and follows Chanel’s high jewellery presentation in London and the House’s plans to construct impressive new headquarters in the city.
