One to Watch: Nada Al Bedwawi

At a mere 18 years old, Nada Al Bedwawi is the UAE’s first female swimmer to compete at an Olympic Games. The Abu Dhabi native, who turns 19 next week was also selected to be the UAE’s flag bearer during the opening ceremony. A biology student at NYU Abu Dhabi, Nada has made waves in the swimming world since starting her profesional career two years ago competing in international meets around the globe. 
With her sights orginally set on competing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Nada was awarded a wildcard entry to compete in  in the 50 meter Freestyle heats in Rio where she will race on August 12.

Nada joins fellow female athletes Alia Saeed Mohammed, Betlhem Desalegn and Ayesha Al Balooshi  as part of the UAE’s 13-strong contigent at the Olympic Games, we wish her the very best.
