Bal de la Rose is a highlight in the Monaco social calendar, with celebrities and royalty alike descending upon Monte-Carlo for an evening of dancing and fine-dining, all for a good cause. Created by Princess Grace of Monaco in 1954 and now presided by her daughter, Her Royal Highness The Princess of Hanover, Bal de la Rose is an annual charity ball hosted by Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer which raises funds for the Princess Grace Foundation. All proceeds from ticket sales and raffle draws – a Chanel necklace, Dior handbag, three-night stay at Monte-Carlo Beach and a two-hour private jet flight are some of the prizes awarded at the 2024 event – go to the foundation, which not only elevates emerging artists in theatre, dance and film but contributes to humanitarian projects which benefit children.

The 2024 edition of Bal de la Rose, or The Rose Ball, was conceptualised by shoe designer Christian Louboutin and transformed the space into a shimmer-splashed wonderland dubbed Disco Bal de la Rose. Sequins adorned the Salle des Étoiles at Sporting Monte-Carlo in an homage to the magic of the ’80s alongside a whopping 59 disco balls, 900 flower-filled vases and screens projecting pop-culture moments from the bygone era.

Aside from prizes and pizzaz, the evening also sees a plethora of talent take to the stage. This year, in-keeping with the disco theme, cabaret performer Charly Voodoo; dancer and choreographer Sadeck Berrabah alongside his dance troupe Géométrie Variable; DJ Kiddy Smile; and Grammy Award-winning artist Gloria Gaynor, who will be hosting Rock in Rio in summer, all performed while famous faces including Princess Charlene, Prince Albert, Charlotte Casiraghi and Princess Alexandra of Hanover looked on.
