Perched on a hilltop in the charming Spanish coastal town Getaria, sits the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum. Founded in 2011, the museum (in Balenciaga’s home town) boasts a collection of just over 1,200 Balenciaga pieces, which includes items donated by private collectors such as Hubert de Givenchy as well as items on loan from the house’s archives. Spread across three rooms, the renowned courtier’s designs are displays in chronological order, tracking his early career in San Sebastian right through to his final collections in Paris.

FASHION RULES RESTYLED

Fashion Rules Restyled takes a look back at the wardrobes of three members of the British Royal family: Her Majesty the Queen, Princess Margaret and Diana Princess of Wales. The exhibit explores how the three women set their own style rules while navigating the strict royal dress code and includes custom-made gowns, dresses and accessories.

Mattel’s Barbie doll revolutionised the children’s toy market when it launched in 1959. Since then Barbie has evolved constantly with societal, cultural and historical events. This exhibition tracks Barbie and her ever-changing roles and occupations across six decades, from her initial launch to now. Numerous designers and fashion houses have collaborated with Mattel over the course of Barbie’s history and dolls by Paco Rabanne, Thierry Mugler, Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, Maison Martin Margiela and Christian Louboutin are displayed as part of the exhibition.
