Arab Movies Shine At The 2016 Cannes Film Festival

Cannes Film Festival’s 2016 lineup brings to light, the talent and groundbreaking work of more Arab filmmakers than ever. It’s an exciting time for Middle Eastern directors to have their work recognised and showcased at one of the biggest cinematic platforms in the world, amidst the company of the who’s who of entertainment. Diversity seems to be a keynote topic in cinema at the moment and fresh up and comers from Turkey, Lebanon, Iran and Egypt have made their mark on the global map of movie making with their true and honest depictions of the Middle Eastern struggles. For instance, Mehmet Can Mertoglu’s Album is a story of deep-rooted prejudice in Turkey, while Vatche Boulghourjian’s Tramontane depicts the journey of a blind man on the trail of his origins in post-war Lebanon. We’re excited to see what our home-grown talented filmmakers have in store for us at the 69th edition of the French movie festival.
