Blending abstract forms with vibrant hues, the Tie & Dior fine jewellery collection is composed of colour-rich gemstones, punctuated by pearls and diamonds. Designed by Victoire de Castellane, the collection reinterprets the house’s signature tie-dyeing technique — which is often used to embellish Maria Grazia Chiuri’s silhouettes — to create hypnotic clusters of jewels glistening on double rings, necklaces, bracelets and asymmetrical earrings.
To reflect the tie-dye print bleeding onto fabric or the subtle trail of ink on blotting paper, Victoire de Castellane uses exceptional stones in different styles, sizes and gradations; combing round, oval, pear and marquise cuts in vivid spectrums. Sapphires run into emeralds, lilacs meld into magentas and turquoise pops against amber, in a rainbow-hued haze of gobstopper stones.
The collection also shines a new light on pearls — which appear in soft pinks, pistachio greens and silky yellows. Placed off-centre and nestled between gems, the pearls inject a touch of elegance into the pieces; whether worn in necklace form alongside a glorious pastel shaded gown, sat as a glittering orb upon the lobe or decorating the wrist, as a true showstopper.
First unveiled during a magical summer’s evening in Shanghai — in a setting made for one of Dior’s mythical couture creatures — the fine jewellery line invites us into a new realm of Dior Joaillerie. Imbued with optimistic colour and boundless creativity, Tie & Dior is stunning triumph of craft and savoir-faire. Who knew tie-dye could be so exquisite.
