“There is no beginning and no end. Its an infinite in a finished space,” says Delfina Delettrez. The jewellery designer tells us why she was inspired by the circle for her latest collection, Zip Code. “It also suggests a roundness and completeness of the moment I was living in while designing the collection. My pregnancy and the circle of life that was evident in my thoughts at the time.”
The circular approach is echoed throughout the Zip Code, especially in the double bubble ear cuff. Constructed from a gentle gold band that wraps around either side of the metal. Each band features either a row of freshwater pearls or is sliced with a single diamond inlay. “These pieces celebrate the arrival of my twin boys,” she says. “The collection started from a very personal moment in my life and is an homage to the delicate play-fullness of adolescents and the art of two.”
The circle is further developed in a series of rings. Each flows around the finger opening up to expose a line of diamonds, framing the knuckle. Delfina chose her sister Leonetta Luciano Fendi – both are daughters of Fendi designer Silvia Fendi – to star in the campaign and video. Leonetta’s fresh faced look adds to the collections rawness. In the video we see her playing with the movement of pearls and showcasing the beautiful simplicity of the pieces. “Subtly ironic. A sophisticated woman that is able to see things with irony and lightness of spirit,” Delfina describes the Delettrez woman. “The Bubble earring represents this spirit, a sophisticated and clean design, that hides a playful attitude recalling childish memories and games.”
