The highlight of the collection is the spectacular 55.55 necklace which features a total of 147 diamonds; including a magnificent 55.55-carat emerald-cut stone. The D Flawless-quality diamond was specifically sourced in order to obtain the perfect stone that could be cut to weigh exactly 55.55 carats – Madamoiselle’s lucky number. It is set in 18ct white gold and is surrounded by 104 round and 42 baguette diamonds. A testament to The House’s exceptional craftsmanship and technical mastery, the 55.55 necklace is nothing short of a masterpiece.
The 55.55 necklace embodies every facet of the legendary fragrance – from the bottle to the scent itself – and solidifies Chanel No5’s place in modern history. In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel and Ernest Beaux set out to create a “perfume for women with the scent of a woman”. Fast forward to 2021 and one bottle of the iconic perfume - ingredients largely unchanged - is sold every thirty seconds.
Speaking on the decision to combine fragrance and high jewellery into one exquisite collection, Patrice Leguéreau shares “Gabrielle Chanel approaches these two universes with the same visionary values, focusing on audacity and the quest for excellence. I wanted to rediscover that creative gesture with this collection, which has been conceived like a journey through the meanderings of the No5 perfume’s soul, from the architecture of the bottle to the olfactive explosion of the fragrance.”
The 55.55 necklace will be housed in Chanel’s Patrimoine at 18 Place Vendôme in Paris.
