A new world record to celebrate a century of watchmaking and jewellery expertise, Italian house Bulgari launches Diva Finissima Minute Repeater at Baselworld 2018
Meet the latest marvel from Baselworld 2018 the Bulgari Diva Finissima Minute Repeater; the world’s thinnest minute repeater movement in a ladies’ watch. Launched to celebrate 100 years of jewelled ladies timepieces, this is where jewellery sophistication meets the excellence in fine watchmaking, masterfully expressed through daring gem-setting.
Catching the eye in this exceptional timepiece is its dial, made using the ancient Japanese Urushi lacquer technqiue. During a process which takes up to an entire month, layers of transparent plant-based lacquer are applied to the dial plate. The dial is then polished with cotton pad and stag-horn powder, then sprinkled with gold dust that is masterfully sieved through bamboo shoots.
The gold-flecked backdrop comes surrounded by an 18-karat rose gold winding crown set with a brilliant-cut diamond, beautifully graced with a slim 37mm-diameter case. With its ability to tell the time to music, the Diva Finissima chimes the hours and minutes on demand by twisting the gemset charm that adorns the watch. This watchmaking wonder celebrates Bulgari’s beautiful platinum and diamond jewellery watch creations dating back to 1918. Only ten pieces will be made.
