Ten Minutes With Aubade Founder Duha AlRamadhan

6 min read

As CEO and owner of Aubade Jewelry, and the woman responsible for coming up with the concept for Kuwait’s first multi-brand jewellery store in 2013, Duha is a force to be reckoned with. Here is everything she gets up to in a day

I wake up at…around 6:30am. My daughter still sleeps into my room so she’s my morning wake-up call, but I’ll take that over a loud alarm any day.

My morning routine normally consists of…doing the school drop off, training with my PT, getting ready for work (with plenty of time for my skincare routine), and then I’m off. Breakfast is usually a quick bite or on the go.

I’m responsible for…pretty much everything! I’m mostly involved in the buying, merchandising and marketing, but I also oversee other aspects such as website, financials and logistics.

My typical day…involves reviewing store stock and placing orders, checking on visuals, overseeing photoshoots and marketing campaigns, and planning events and trunk shows. I also spend lots of time online and on social media, but it’s all part of the job! It’s the best way to be on top of the latest trends and news in the jewellery world and is also how I come across a lot of new brands.

The most exciting project I’m working on now is…our new website. It launched in March 2023, but we still have a long way to go in terms of fine-tuning it and expanding our offering.

My go-to working wardrobe consists of…a classic white shirt and the perfect pair of jeans. Super laidback yet chic.

My go-to beauty look for the 9-5 looks like…a ‘no makeup makeup’ look. I love applying a hydrating moisturiser followed by a cream blush, some light mascara and a tinted lip balm for an ultra-dewy and natural look.

For lunch I eat…salad with protein. I ensure the salad is infused with as much colour and variety as possible, then I top it off with some grilled chicken or shrimp.

What I love most about my job is…the excitement of playing with and trying on jewellery all day long, it’s definitely my dream job! I also love doing photoshoots because I enjoy styling so much.

And what I enjoy the least is…the financials and numbers. Worrying and focusing too much on that can kill a person’s passion and creative flow.

When I get home I…unwind with my family. I spend time with my three kids before they go to bed, then I catch up on the day’s events with my husband.

I couldn’t live without…my iPhone! And jewellery of course.

When I feel stressed I…run. Nothing helps me get rid of my stresses better than a long uninterrupted run.

If I wasn’t in my current position, I would be…a poet. I used to write a lot of poetry in my free time, and I would have loved to pursue it professionally.
