We take to the streets to see how to don the season's most coveted trend: ruching.
This season we stir away from the familiar lace-up details in exchange for ruching. This feminine design style helps to define shape and provide a unique aesthetic. Designers such as Tom Ford and Dolce & Gabbana used it with figure-hugging designs this season, while Roksanda and Y Project used it to add body to voluminous silhouettes. In keeping with the rise of adaptable clothing and the athleisure movement, designers also embraced parachute-style ruching. For spring/summer18 we saw sporty, bungee-cord-accented pulls that were used on everything from jackets to jumpers and tops to trousers.
When trialing the trend, start with a simple ruched pencil skirt – a huge trend for spring/summer18 and an easy transitional day-to-night option. Opt for pieces that provide an asymmetrical design that pair well with a structured top, thus balancing the silhouette. Complete the look with a statement boot or heel.
