Here’s why a midi dress is worth investing in for spring…
The air is heavy and the mood is relatively sombre right now, and while shopping might not be a cure or a solution to how you’re feeling about current affairs, it definitely offers some light relief. Besides, we all still need to feel inspired and dressing up can completely alter your mindset for the day.
This week, we’re celebrating the most sophisticated dress of the season, the midi. Back once again to ease us into the summer months and brighten up your wardrobe in one fell swoop. This season’s prettiest versions come in a rainbow of colours, as well as on-trend florals, and cover everything from the 70s to the 90s and modern millennial styles.
On the catwalk Miu Miu's pretty printed version looked ready to set sail along the Italian Riviera, while Preen’s florals offered a demure take on event dressing. Stella McCartney presented simple and contemporary sophistication while Chloe offered a typically romantic and prarie-esque aesthetic.
The midi dress also happened to be the length and style of choice for editors, buyers and other sartorially—savvy Fashion Week attendees. Retro turtle-neck collars proved favourable amongst some with prints offering a more summery feel.
Elsewhere floral prints manifested in every which way - some romantic, some bold and tropical. White is always a favourite for Spring Summer and this season was no exception. From crispy white shirt styles - think Bottega Veneta - to light knits, crochet and broderie anglaise - midi dresses have all the summer appeal and happy-vibes potential a girl could wish for right now.
So while you isolate and practice social distancing, practice dressing and dreaming, too. It’s important to maintain a sense of self, and if you happen do that through fashion we’re here to tell you that is okay.
