Here’s the Only Bag Worth Investing in Right Now

Plastic returns as clear bags make being completely transparent the only way to rock an accessory.

Designers have made it crystal clear that this Spring, when it comes to accessories, going transparent is the only way to do it.

Ever heard the term “Plastic Fantastic”? Well, this summer - thanks to the clear bag trend - you definitely will. From New York to Milan, it seems that being transparent about what you carry is a surefire way to make a statement. Yes, gone are the days of complete discretion, now it’s all about oversharing, and a clear bag is the only way to do it. Making the case for the good old plastic bag was Phoebe Philo for Céline, who for Spring 18 (right before her exit), took the tacky grocery bag and gave it a makeover, as well as a hefty price tag to go with it - forget those free thin supermarket ones, this one will cost you!

Other brands such as Maison Margiela, Chanel and Helmut Lang showed off a slew of naked totes and purses, making it quite clear that see-through is the only way one should schlep around one’s essentials this coming season. And although clear bags are not a new concept, these reinvented sleek PVC models being sported on the runways are definitely a fresh take on their predecessors, sure to fill up many a wishlist. Just remember though, a clear handbag isn't always the easiest accessory to pull off. Yes, with the world peering in, filtering what you carry around has never been more important. So before you rush out the house, whether you’re toting around your laptop, latest pair of Gucci sunglasses, a copy of or your favorite chapstick, just leave any empty candy wrappers behind - you don’t want everyone knowing exactly what you’ve been snacking on the whole day.
