Who: A.W.A.K.E. Why: Founded in 2012 by Natalia Alaverdian, a former Fashion Director for Harper’s Bazaar UK, the designer's unique eye for fashion has developed through a multi-disciplinary career encompassing styling, art direction and photography. Natalia's goal with A.W.A.K.E. is to propose a personal and distinct voice through clothing that balances conceptual, storytelling with commercial viability. The collections will entice women whose personal taste are more inclined towards quirky pieces
Who: Jessie Western Why: Founded by sisters Jessica and Victoria Blake who grew up on the Indian Seminole Reservation in Florida. Native American culture surrounded and inspired them, whilst the rootsy independence of Southern Rock formed the soundtrack to their lives. A visit to their 14-year-old store on London's Portobello Road is a turquoise blend of those influences. Jessie Western specialises in rare and amazing real turquoise pieces that should appeal to anyone loving that western vibe
Who: Dorateymur Shoes Why: A graduate of the esteemed Cordwainers School at the London College of Fashion, shoe designer Dora Teymur founded his eponymous footwear brand in 2012 and his shoes have since been spotted on the feet of many street style influencers. The designs caught our eye for their hand crafted, sculptural aesthetic and will appeal to anyone looking for a contemporary twist on classics
Who: Natasha Zinko Why: We chose Ukrainian born ready-to-wear designer Natasha Zinko for her free-spirited whimsical collection that honours the codes of the finest craftsmanship and which are created entirely in her London atelier. Her sense of fun and extravert style will appeal to women who are not afraid to play with bold colours, volume and proportions. We love her talent for highlighting the female form in unexpected ways and fell for her boldly sculptural pieces executed in luxurious fabrics
Who: Merchant Archive Why: London-based brand Merchant Archive began in 2007 when Sophie Merchant opened up her archive collection, by appointment-only, to inspire designers. This resulted in her opening her own store in 2008 and whilst this was primarily vintage, she slowly started to introduce more contemporary pieces. We love how the collections are designed with fabulous clean lines using couture quality fabrics – an aesthetic that is very much in sync with the Boutique 1 discerning custome
