Prada Unveils An Archival Bag From 1913 On The SS24 Runway

Embroidery, fringing and organza collide in Prada’s SS24 collection in celebration of the freedom of movement and an ode to its skilled artisans. There were swirls of crystals splashed across velvet, leather utilitarian silhouettes and jewellery-inspired metallic fringe in order for Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons to demonstrate how craftsmanship remains at the heart of the House.

A nod to Prada’s past – both the House’s and Miuccia Prada’s herself – came by way of a reimagined evening bag first designed by Miuccia Prada’s grandfather, Mario Prada, in 1913. After he co-founded Prada, he travelled the globe in search of precious materials, bringing them back to Europe’s ateliers and creating luxurious objects. This archival bag is one such creation, wrapped in nappa leather and re-nylon and featuring a distinct gothic Prada clasp. See all the looks from Prada SS24 in the gallery above.
