5:00AM I like to wake up early. Living on the farm and hearing the roosters crowing in the morning makes it much easier and feels more natural.
5:15AM I used to have the habit of checking my email first thing in the morning, but now I am making an effort to meditate for 15 minutes before I fully plug-in. Practicing breathing exercises has helped me feel more centered and focused throughout the day.
5:30AM Right now I see a personal trainer virtually and focus on core strengthening exercises. I don’t exercise to be fit, but to feel both mentally and physically strong.
8:30AM This is when my meetings typically start and I am in them back-to-back for most of the day. I love when I am on the farm and can work outside on my porch to get fresh air. When I have breaks in between calls, I love to check in on what’s cooking in our batch room or I’ll try some of the new products our chemists are formulating in the lab.
10:30AM I do intermittent fasting until 10.30AM, at which point I will have celery juice. It helps with digestion and is best on an empty stomach. It won’t hold me over until lunch, so I’ll wash and cut up some of my favourite raw fruits and veggies. I’ll typically have tulsi tea with ginger along with my fruit – it’s a lot of liquids, but hydration is so important for the body and skin.
1:00PM I try to have lunch with my children whenever they aren’t in school, doing their activities, or in camp. My typical lunch is a bed of greens with a piece of fish or plant-based protein.
2:00PM In the afternoons, I spend an hour or so with our photographer, shooting. I am a creative person, so I find this time to be super calming in between meetings and calls.
4:00PM My children are 12, 10, and eight so we definitely spend a lot of time playing games. During the summertime we love to take long walks on the farm with our dogs and go to say hi to the animals and sometimes pick fresh fruits and veggies from the garden.
6:00PM Ever since the pandemic, I have definitely been eating most of my meals at home! A Japanese dish I love is called donabe: it’s a clay pot to which you can add broth, protein, rice and vegetables and make a super comforting and healthy meal.
7:00PM I get the children ready for bed and then draw myself a bath to wind down. I take time to use a body scrub in the bath and I read – at the moment I’m reading Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza.
9:30PM I end the day with some meditation. I find that visual meditation helps with sleep, especially after looking at a screen all day. I always keep my phone across the room at night to help with this.
