Zuhair Murad is familiar with dressing supermodels and celebrities for the runway and the red carpet, but for Murad’s latest project, the couturier is dressing stars in a design that is much closer to his home and heart.
The Lebanese designer has launched a series of ‘Rise From The Ashes’ tee-shirts, donating 100 per cent of profits raised to the Lebanese charity Offre Joie. Helping some of the hardest-hit areas in Beirut after the explosion on August 4, the organisation is currently on the ground responding to the humanitarian needs of the Lebanese people.
Tunisian actress Dorra Zarrouk, Egyptian actress Mai Omar and Lebanese singer and actress Cyrine Abdelnour, have pledged their support wearing one of the tee-shirts. While Sofia Vergara, Jennifer Lopez, Shanina Shaik, Kourtney Kardashian, Olivia Culpo and Alessandra Ambrosio have also helped to spread awareness, posting pictures of themselves in the ‘Rise From The Ashes’ design.
Among the fashion house’s directly affected in the blast, Zuhair Murad lost its atelier, headquarters and upcoming collections during the tragic explosion earlier this month. This project, is therefore, even more poignant for the Beirut-based brand and designer Murad, as Lebanon desperately tries to pick up the pieces and start to recover.
