Light fabrics and fluid silhouettes were perfectly at home in the balmy Bangkok breeze
Yesterday, Chanel staged a replica of its Cruise 2019 collection along Bangkok's Chao Phraya river, the first ever showing for the French fashion house in the Thai capital. The show, which debuted in Paris in May, featured a massive ocean liner named La Pausa that was installed in the Grand Palais as a backdrop to designer Karl Lagerfeld's nautical-inspired creations.
Guests such as Chanel ambassadors Lily-Rose Depp, Tilda Swinton, Caroline de Maigret, Pharrell Williams and MOJEH editor in chief, Mojeh Izadpanah, were ferried from a pier in Bangkok's historic Yan Nawa neighbourhood to a boardwalk where a giant white tent had been constructed. Inside, under subdued blue lights, models hit the runway wearing a range of breton stripes, berets, and classic Chanel tweed in the form of two-piece sets.
As the show drew to a close, guests were invited to board the La Pausa to watch Pharrell perform and get a sneak peek at his capsule collection for Chanel.
